Swedish Massage To Ease Back Pain
Dr. Per Henrik Ling developed Swedish massage in the 1700's. It consists of a mixture of techniques designed to relax the muscles and bones to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from those muscles. Metabolic wastes, such as lactic acid and uric acid, are flushed from the tissues and increases circulation throughout the body.
Techniques used in Swedish massage are applied to reduce stress, stimulate the skin, and soothe the nervous system. Tendons and ligaments are stretched and kneaded to keep them supple and flexible. Friction techniques whereby the therapist uses a rhythm of circular pressure rubbing increases blood flow to the tissues.
